June 11 to 13: Friends' Weekend
3:30 pm: FBP Annual General Meeting at the Davenport Centre.

July 1, Thursday: Canada's Day
Celebrate Canada Day by stepping back into our past. The morning programs will feature a guided walk from the Davenport Centre to The Depot with a focus on what life was like for the Little Bonnechere pioneers a century ago.
Fireworks are illegal within provincial parks, but the village of Killaloe is known for its rousing presentation of music, light and colour -- so be sure to take it in.

July 3: Kicking off the Summer of 2010
10:00am: Learn the techniques of prehistoric pot-making, then get your hands dirty and shape a clay pot of your own.
7pm: Gather at The Depot for a kick-off campfire. Luke will start the fire using a fire bow, then as the sun goes down everyone will gather round for campfire songs.

July 10, Saturday: Archaeology Day
10:00am - 11:30am: Hands-on Activities
Join members of the Ontario Archaeological Society Ottawa Chapter as they present hands-on historic archaeology activities such as artefact reconstruction, clay pot-making, excavation methods and traditional fire-making. Always a very popular event for the entire family!
10:00am: Presentation of the Peggy Armstrong Public Archaeology Award to Tom Ballantine
10:00am: Hot Dog Lunch on the Beach
7:00pm: Return to Basin
Archaeologist, author and historian Rory MacKay will present images and findings based on last autumn's week-long archaeological dig at Basin Depot, an abandoned logging community in neighbouring Algonquin Park.

July 31: 10am to Noon: Sand Sculpting - featuring fun competitions and great prizes

July 31, Saturday: Apple Cider
7:00pm: These Park favourites return for another summer. Join us for traditional Valley fiddling mixed with unique interpretations of classic pop favourites. Don't forget your tap-dancing shoes!

August 14, Saturday: Spirits' Night
8:30pm: The Depot in Bonnechere Park
Once each summer – when the moon and stars align – the spirits of the folks who once lived and worked along the banks of the Little Bonnechere revisit this land. Come listen to their stories and learn more about the characters who called this place home at various times over the past 150 years.

August 21, Saturday: Wolf Howl
7pm to 10pm: Author, educator and naturalist Mike Runtz leads this moonlight excursion to nearby Basin Depot in Algonquin Park in search of the elusive sounds of howling wolf packs. Meet at the Davenport Centre for a slide show presentation on wolf biology and social behaviour. We will then head into Basin Depot and hopefully get a wolf pack to howl for us. It's a 20km drive into Algonquin Park, so you will need transportation. Also, dogs are best left at home since their barking can discourage wolves from howling.

September 25, Saturday: The Archaeology of the Little Bonnechere
FREE to local residents (excluding dinner). If you reside in Round Lake or Bonnechere, contact Luke to request a Complimentary Park Pass for the day: 613-757-2103
10 am - 1pm:
Travel by car to Lafleur Homestead and/or Basin Depot, for interpretive program featuring the archaeological research conducted along the Little Bonnechere over the years.
1 pm - 3 pm: Return to the Davenport Centre in Bonnechere Park to view a selection of recovered artifacts.
5:30 pm: Baked beans and pork dinner. $15/person. If you plan to stay for dinner, please email Luke.
6:30pm: Rory MacKay will host a presentation on Material Culture of Logging Camps.
Traditionally the FBP present our annual Directors' Award at this time. However, this year's recipients -- The Carleton Place Gang -- have opted to receive their award next May when they gather at the Park for the annual Spring Clean-up. Congratulations to all!
