Log Drive for Boland & Boyle on the Bonnechere River - circa 1920
- Gordon Griffith, logger

Somewhere on Cuchon Lake in a big wind-storm, Jack Farr, Sternman in a six oar pointer was trying to tie the stern line to a boomchain and the wind was tossing the boomstick about. It jammed Jack's finger for a moment and it hurt awful. We in the boat knew nothing of what happened, but Jack began to swear just awful, but not a man said a word. After Jack stopped and all was quiet, Bert Shane turned to me and asked "Were you scared when Johnnie was swearing"? Shane was my seatmate and that question was enough to get jack going at us again.

Both of those men were great drivers. Both are gone now.
